Designed & manufactured by Nicole Christie inspired by her previous dance training background, the collection features ties, gathering, flashes of skin and most importantly capturing the fluidity of movement echoed by the body in the delicate luxurious fabrics inspired by dance.
‘In a generation polluted with regurgitated high street designs it is difficult for anyone to stand out from the crowd; Ellipsis is making strides to be the exception to that rule’… We are proud that all our processes are made in-house, skill sets that we are losing in our mass produced industry.
After finding Nicoles beautiful Luxury Collection All Barre One I was inspired to create some work experimenting with some printing techniques.
I tried out drawn and painted monprints on perspex printing on to bible paper. I also created ghost prints as secondary images to work in to and develop further. I aim to create a bank of prints to work up in to a series of images featuring different looks for Nicoles collection. My aim is to work colaboratively with fashion designers and drive new avenues of creative thought resulting in exciting new work.
I was experimenting with drawing on perspex plates. The figure on yellow was created by printing the whole plate first in yellow then painting the figure in black with a brush, then taking away with a palette knife.
The soft black and white drawing was drawn partly from memory after looking in detail at the dress design from a video of the fashion shoot.
